Organizations and documents
Understand how organizations, clients, documents, payments and files relate to one another.

Organizations separate data
Each organization has its own company details, documents, clients, team and subscription. The same user can work in several organizations, but switching does not combine their data.
Check the selected organization before creating a document or inviting someone.
Main relationships
| Object | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Client | Recipient details and billing preferences. |
| Document | An invoice, quote or note with line items, dates and amounts. |
| Numbering series | Number allocation for issued documents. |
| Expense | A supplier document or liability. |
| Payment | Money received or paid against a document or liability. |
| File | An original, generated PDF or other material. |
A document can have several associated actions: sending, viewing, payment and an adjustment note. These are not interchangeable. An email does not prove payment, and an uploaded file alone is not a confirmed expense.
Number and internal identifier
The invoice number is the visible number from its series. The internal identifier you may see in the page address lets the application locate the record. Do not use it in place of the invoice number when communicating with a client.
For support, provide the organization, document number and the action that failed. Do not send passwords, keys or sign-in links.
Details at issue time
An issued document retains the details used when it was issued. Changing the client or company settings does not automatically rewrite an old document. Use the appropriate action on the document to correct it.
