Your first invoice
Create a draft, check the client and amounts, and issue your first document.
Last updated: 21 September 2026
Before you start
Check the selected organization, company details and numbering series. Add the bank account you want shown for bank transfers. Creating a document requires a role with editing permission.
Create the draft
- Open Sales and choose to create a document.
- Select Invoice and a client. You can add a new client from the form.
- Check the series, issue date, due date, currency and language. The client's settings may prefill the currency and language.
- Add line items: description, quantity, unit price and VAT. Select a catalog item or enter a description manually.
- Complete the payment method, bank account and notes where needed.
A draft lets you finish the details before issuing the document. Do not send it as a final invoice.
Review before issuing
| Check | What to review |
|---|---|
| Client | Correct name, registration and VAT numbers, address. |
| Dates | Document date and agreed due date. |
| Line items | Quantity, price, discount and tax rate. |
| Amounts | Tax base, VAT, total and currency. |
| Payment | Correct bank account and payment reference. |
| Preview | Language, company details and layout. |
Review the tax scenario and explanations shown in the form. Suggestions from the application do not replace your accountant's review of the transaction.
Issue and download
Issue the document after reviewing its details. The application uses the selected numbering series. From the issued document, you can download a PDF and send an email with a link to the client portal.
Send and track covers the next steps. Downloading a PDF and sending an email are separate actions.
If you cannot continue
- Missing required field: follow the form's message and check the client, line items and series.
- Wrong currency or language: check both the document and the client's defaults.
- Mistake after issuing: use the appropriate correction or cancellation action for the document's state. Do not issue the same number again. See Sales.
