smetni.app checks whether a month or a year is ready, shows what is in the way and generates the audit file to the schema published by the NRA. You download the file and submit it on the NRA portal with a qualified electronic signature.

How it works
From the ledger entries to the file for the NRA.
Fill in the file details
The admin marks in Settings that the company is obliged to file, answers whether it sells or holds goods and fills in the audit file details: contact person, position and group details.
Check readiness
You pick a month for the monthly file or a closed year for the annual one. The check lists the blockers, such as accounts not mapped to the NRA taxonomy or documents without a ledger entry, and the warnings.
Generate the file
"Generate the file" unlocks when the period has no blockers. The monthly file is built only if the entries agree with the trial balance, sales and purchases with the VAT ledgers, and payments with the money accounts. The annual file is built only if the asset register agrees with the general ledger.
Download and submit
The file appears under "Generated files" with a name in the NRA format. You download it, review it with your accountant and submit it on the NRA portal.

Monthly file
- Chart of accounts mapped to the NRA taxonomy, with opening and closing balances

Annual asset file

Frequently asked questions
Does smetni.app submit the SAF-T file to the NRA?
No. smetni.app generates the file and you download it. You or your accountant submit it on the NRA portal with a qualified electronic signature.
Can I generate the monthly file if I sell goods?
Not yet. The current version of the monthly file describes every product as a service and has no stock section, so it is only for companies that do not sell or hold goods. The readiness check shows this as a blocker.
When can I generate the annual asset file?
After the year ends. The current year can be checked, but the file is generated only for a closed year that your books in smetni.app cover. The 2026 file can be generated from 1 January 2027.
What do I need to generate the file?
The Business or Enterprise plan, the Accounting module switched on with the chart of accounts loaded, the organisation's VAT number and bank account, and the audit file details filled in under Settings. For the monthly file, Settings must also say that the company provides only services. The file is built from the ledger entries, so the period's documents and payments must be posted.
Which schema is the file generated to?
The NRA's SAF-T schema, version 1.0.2. Acceptance of the file by the NRA test environment has not been confirmed yet. smetni.app does not submit the file or receive a response from the NRA, so you see the result of the submission on the NRA portal.
How do I know whether I must file SAF-T?
The obligation is set by law and by the NRA, not by smetni.app. Who files and from when is explained in the article "SAF-T Bulgaria requirements" on the blog. If your company is obliged, mark it in Settings and the deadlines will appear in the calendar.
